Founded in 1962 and located
in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, Wiman operates
a 105,000 square foot manufacturing facility
and employs 50-75 people. During the first
15 years, Wiman supplied plastics to a limited
market. In the mid-1970s, Wiman expanded
its market and began manufacturing specialty
plastic films that were not readily available
from the major plastic suppliers. During 2006 Wiman was acquired by specialty compounder RTP Company.
Leading the way in the development
of specialty films using PVC, Polyolefins
and Polypropylene, Wiman serves a niche
market for companies requiring specialty
runs and products such as helmet liners
- often in quantities far lower than the
industry standards. The Wiman products are
unique in their construction and abilities
to formulate the plastic to the customers
needs. Today, the products are all designed
with the end user in mind, and produced
specifically to their applications.
