Wiman designs plastic films with built in electrical properties ranging from antistatic to conductive. We can produce these types of films using various technologies including those that are permanent and non sloughing, so they remain effective over time.
Anti-static films
(1010 to 1012 Ohms/sq)*
- Our anti-static films provide a decay of static charge from hundredths of a second to several seconds, preventing accumulations that may be a source of discharge or initiate other nearby electrical events. Wiman films in this range are available in translucent, colors, and black.
- Our all-polymeric PermaStat® films feature a consistent surface resistivity of 1010 to 1011 ohms/sq and are free of carbon black, so they do not crayon or “slough.” Unlike coatings, these properties are inherent to the material and not humidity-dependent for activation or limited by fragility.
Static Dissipative Films
(109 to 1012 Ohms/sq)*
- Our Static Dissipative Films allow for the controlled dissipation or decay of electrical charges at a much faster rate than anti-static films, generally within milliseconds. Measured resistance is uniform and usually strong. Wiman films cover the 109 to 1012 portion of this range. Available in translucent, colors, and black.
- Our PermaStat Plus® compounds further expand the usefulness of PermaStat® materials (above), with surface resistivity as strong as 109 Ohms/sq. They are an excellent choice for meeting static protection requirements of the ATEX directive.
Conductive Films
(103 to 106 Ohms/sq)*
- Our conductive films films offer decay rates measured in nanoseconds, instant enough to provide a ground pathway and bleed off stronger electrical charges. Available in black.
